Is Jaka Jamu the Jamu For You?

There is nothing that I love to see more than an absolute boss lady taking charge, running her business and not needing anyone’s help. Except, seeing two absolute boss ladies working together to create a company with room for both of their unique personalities and strengths and just supporting the crap out of each other in general.

I love Jaka Jamu because it’s delicious, trendy, super hydrating and run by two literally awesome power babes, Caitlin and Kristina.

Three Foods I Use to Forget Dairy

For me, food combining was where my journey to a cleaner diet started. I knew what the bad stuff for me was; S U G A R, dairy and gluten in order from the most evil to the least for me. So basically i went from including these things in my diet daily and haphazardly (working in kitchens and bakeries it was literally unavoidable) to only including one of these things at a time.

For instance, cupcakes were out of the picture, because they combined all three, but I could eat non dairy ice cream (Sugar only) and I eat cheese (Dairy only) and I’d have bread once in a while when it was available.

Shacking up with a celiac made it easy for me to say goodbye to the majority of bread, since, it’s not in the house I don’t see it. And the severity and immediate nature of my sugar reactions made it easier for me to take huge cuts out of my sugar intake. But dairy…

The Less Sweet Life – 3 Foods I Use Everyday to Shake Sugar

The road to a sugar free lifestyle is paved with setbacks, failures and obligatory birthday cakes, but it is 100% a road worth traveling. My journey to quit sugar started for me when I quit my job. A job that I loved by included too many cupcakes for breakfast and frosting taste tests.

In order for me to get to a place where I don’t consume any sugar, I need time and I need a lot of help. Each month I’m still noticing what feels like a significant improvement in the way I not only eat sugar, but also the way I feel regarding sugar. It’s been three years. For that, I have my own determination and three awesome products to thank.

Raise Your Bar.

I’m usually a huge fan of bars. I love the concept of a lot of nutrition being shrunken down into a little bitty baby package. I’m okay with the concept of a lot of filling calories being shrunken down into something that can fit in the palm of your hand. But. I am literally super not cool with a lot of garbage being shrunken down so you can basically just unhinge your jaw a little and swallow it in one go.

That’s a trap.

Did Millennials Kill the Mushroom Industry?

In the past two months I have begged information from multiple sources regarding the quality and efficacy of several brands of medicinal mushrooms. I have heard people with something to gain make claims and I have encouraged people with nothing to gain to talk over them.

Bar Round Up – or… Square Off….

I know that when people say ‘I get asked all day long…’ it sounds like an exaggeration. But I am being 100% real when I tell you that someday, all day long, people are asking me what my favorite something is.

Protein powder. Bars. Juice. Berry. Vitamin D Supplement. Alt Grain. Honestly, the questions just keep on coming.

And I love it. Because this girl is never without an opinion.

Baby Hulk Invented the Smash Cake Trend – Change My Mind

So grateful you don’t have to be a giant green rage monster to SMASH once in a while, because this photo shoot was THE most fun.

Amelia is turning 1 next month and was utterly delighted to have some fun with some props in preparation for the big day. Even though, in her honest option, the cake was a bit sweet. Not her fave.

Why So Sociable?

A lot of the people who know me in real life, frequently approach me and ask about my Instagram. Sometimes they are complementary, sometimes they are noticeably uncomfortable and sometimes they seem like they try to get a rise out of me.

I have, literally, two thousand followers, (small potatoes). But its very obvious how much effort I put into my pictures (captions, not so much) and I think that makes people who know me curious.

Kitchen Tips Found Along the Way – l

I firmly believe that this is a familiar moment for a lot of people who do cooking in bulk. Imagine this. You’ve been cooking for a while. Dishes are piled up next to your sink basin, and you’ve just placed some unspecified but well washed cut of meat down into some hot oil to sear.

Now. There are three instincts probably running through your brain right now. The first, is that you’ve just been handling meat, cleaning it, seasoning it and dropping it in the pan. You need to wash your hands.

The second, is that you desperately want to wiggle that pieces of meat around to see how its going. You want to get in there with your nosey little tongs and make sure it’s browning well. A truly counter intuitive impulse that would interrupt your browning.

Third, there is a screaming coming from behind your eyes about how washing those dishes is literally the last thing in this world you want to deal with right now. My scum bag brain can’t be the only one that insists, ‘Only cook. No clean.’.

Now. Lets fix all three of these problems with one new habit.
